Achieving a body's natural state of balance...
What conditions does sound balancing help with?
Sound healing instruments including tuning forks, singing bowls, gongs and chimes can be applied both on and off the body. Our voice is another excellent sound balancing tool and can be used in chanting, singing and toning for example.
How does sound healing work?
In easy to understand terms, the sound vibrations or frequencies of the various instruments used during a session help provide a stable frequency for the brain to attune to. We call this entrainment and by using different rhythms and frequencies it is possible to move from our normal waking consciousness to relaxed consciousness and even into a meditative state or sleep where natural healing can occur.
The sound vibrations of the healing instruments also penetrate deep into the tissues improving circulation and easing tension as well as stimulating regeneration and repair mechanisms. Both activating and relaxing, sound healing is also very refreshing. Clients report deep relaxation during and after treatments.
Who can have sound healing?
Sound healing is suitable for most people, although for some this is not a suitable treatment. This includes anyone who may currently be:
Suffering from epilepsy
Have a cardiac pacemaker, shunt or stent.
What happens when I go for a treatment?
On your first appointment a detailed medical history will be requested and you will need to sign a consent form. We will discuss your specific health needs and treatment goals. This information is for treatment purposes only and will be kept confidential.
Sound healing treatments are carried out on a couch whilst wearing loose and comfortable clothes. The practitioner uses a variety of instruments including tuning forks, singing bowls and bells which may be used on or off the body for the duration of the treatment (this will be explained to you at the outset). Instruments will be passed over the whole body or a specific area using a variety of techniques.
How will I feel after sound therapy?
Most clients report feeling deeply calm in mind and body which helps promote relaxation and alleviate the symptoms of stress. Short and long term benefits are cumulative so it’s a good idea to go for regular treatments if you find sound healing is the therapy for you.
After a sound healing session, it is important that you drink plenty of water. To get the most out of your treatment it is best to take it easy and take good care of yourself after a treatment.
