A relaxing experience for mind, body and soul...
What is Reflexology?
The art of Reflexology dates as far back as Ancient Egypt, India and China and is based on the theory that certain points on the feet, lower leg and hands correspond to different parts of the body. Using specific techniques, these points are gently worked to help bring the body back to a state of balance naturally.
Reflexology is an extremely relaxing treatment and most people experience greatly reduced tension and stress following a treatment. You may notice an improvement in your mood and sense of wellbeing as well as an improvement in your sleep. You may also notice an improvement in other aspects but this happens on an individual basis.
Our Signature Reflexology treatment combines Reflexology and Reiki and most people find this treatment very beneficial in terms of mitigating the stress of day-to-day living.
Will reflexology help me?
Reflexology is suitable for everyone from new born babies to the elderly and everyone in between. There may occasionally be times, however, when Reflexology is not suitable for an individual. If in doubt, please contact us to discuss your specific situation and health concerns.
What happens when I go for a treatment?
Who can have reflexology?
On your first appointment a full medical history will be requested and you will need to sign a consent form. We will discuss your specific health needs and treatment goals.
During a Reflexology treatment you will be required to remove your shoes and socks. Depending on the type of treatment you choose, the reflexologist may also work on the lower leg so please bear this in mind when coming for an appointment.
During a treatment, the therapist will use their hands to apply pressure using specific techniques to different points on the feet. You may feel transient areas of discomfort in some areas but the treatment will generally be very relaxing. Depending on your specific area of concern, you may require a course of treatments.
How will I feel after a treatment?
Most people experience a sense of enhanced wellbeing and relaxation following a Reflexology treatment. On occasions, however, as the body begins to restore its natural balance some people may feel lethargic, tearful or slightly nauseous for a short period of time. Reflexologists believe this is part of the body’s natural healing response. Short and long term benefits are cumulative so it’s a good idea to go for regular treatments if you find Reflexology is the therapy for you.
After a reflexology treatment, it is important that you drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol as Reflexology can be very detoxifying. To get the most out of your treatment it is best to take it easy and take good care of yourself after a treatment.
