My Story

My name is Caroline McCombie and I am the founder and practising Complementary Therapy Practitioner at Empowered Wellbeing.  My background is in education and I’ve been a Primary School teacher for over 27 years.  In 2013, I began training in Reflexology and went on to achieve an HND in Complementary Therapies specialising in Clinical Reflexology and Swedish Massage.  Travelling to Dundee University at weekends whilst doing a full-time job was challenging but ultimately worth it!  My training was thorough and extensive giving me great understanding and sound practical skills.  Since then, I have continued my training in a range of professional complementary therapies including Sound Healing and Hypnotherapy.

Teaching is a tough job and after more than 20 years sustaining a relentless work pattern every part of me was protesting.  Serious stress issues and a bout of shingles were the final straw.  Having been prescribed a course of anti-viral medication which I was advised most likely wouldn’t work, I was basically on my own and realised I had to do something about it.  Whilst my health situation wasn’t critical it was far from perfect and I was in very real danger of succumbing to more serious health issues.  And so my journey to wellness began.

The first complementary therapy I tried was Reflexology and after a course of 6 weekly treatments, I knew there was an improvement.  I continued to have regular Reflexology treatments and also began to try other therapies.  I found Reiki amazing for stress management and Hypnotherapy great for getting to the core of issues such as poor sleep.  My journey to health happened gradually, just as it was meant to, and I have absolutely no doubt that complementary therapy greatly supported me in achieving my health goals, just as I believe they can for you too.

Everything happens for a reason and my experience sparked a desire to support and empower individuals, particularly women, to achieve their full potential in mind, body and soul.  I love working with all my clients and am deeply humbled when they choose me to support them on their health journey.  I believe that I attract the clients I am supposed to be working with so if you’ve got this far, then maybe we are supposed to be working together!

Journey to wellness

Achieving health goals...

Attaining wellness naturally

Complementary Therapy has something to offer everyone in terms of improving and maintaining general health and wellbeing.  Some people prefer to stick to one particular therapy and for others, the benefits come from mixing and matching different therapies.

It’s all about supporting the mind, body and soul to reach a state of deep relaxation which triggers the body’s own healing, enabling a state of balance and harmony to be achieved.  Reaching this state of balance in mind, body and soul is vitally important for our overall health and wellbeing.

Gold standard

Practice makes perfect...

The importance of quality training…

From the beginning, it’s been my mission to ensure I am highly qualified in all the therapies I offer.  No 'one-day' training courses for me unless they’re add-ons to what I’m already qualified in!  All my training has involved extensive study, practical training and endless case studies.

I take my role as a Complementary Therapist very seriously, much the same way as I do my teaching role.  I am a member of the Association of Reflexologists, the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) demonstrating that my training has met high standards and that my quality of care is excellent.  I am, of course, fully insured in all the therapies I offer.

The Healing Hands Network....

Our chosen charity

Ever since the age of 14, I knew I wanted to support people.  In my role as a teacher, I do this every single day and strive to be the best teacher I can be.  I am driven by the same intention in my Complementary Therapy Practice and simply want you to achieve your full potential in terms of health and wellbeing.

In 2015, I travelled to Bosnia with Healing Hands Network, to complete a two-week tour of duty working with victims of the Bosnian war.  I treated 53 clients in a 9 day period many of whom had suffered the most horrific injuries and psychological damage. Although physically, emotionally and mentally exhausting, this experience was the catalyst for many changes in my life making me all the more determined to help, guide and support others just like you.
